A sunny and breezy November afternoon greeted guests to the first open house of Sweetland Amphitheatre at Boyd Park. The event was a considerable success, with over 500 visitors touring the venue.
“We’re thrilled with the number of patrons who came out to tour Sweetland,” commented Becca Eiland, Director of Sweetland Amphitheatre at Boyd Park. “There’s a lot of excitement about this venue and we can feel the energy from folks. They are pumped about this place and so are we.”
Donned in red vests and stationed throughout the venue, Sweetland staff and volunteers answered questions and helped point out the amenities of the facility. For most, it was the first time seeing Sweetland up close and personal. All areas were open to the public, from the extensive stage area to the renovated and expanded pavilion.
Responses from guests were overwhelmingly positive with many commenting about how the facility exceeded their expectations.
“It’s simply stunning,” said local resident John Roberts. “We’re so fortunate to have a venue like this for our community to enjoy.”
Questions from guests ranged from ticket pricing to venue rentals. The most asked question, however, was who would be performing at Sweetland.
“We’re in negotiations with several nationally recognized artists for our 2016 concert series,” continued Eiland. “We’re not quite ready to reveal those acts, but we expect to announce those concerts by January.”
